POLICE LIEUTENANT
The Town of Rocky Mount is currently seeking qualified candidates for the positions of Patrol and Investigations Lieutenants. The two positions are newly created and require management of either patrol or investigative divisions by functioning as part of the core leadership of the Rocky Mount Police Department. A successful candidate would be energetic, self directed, detail oriented and capable of supervising department personnel, performing complex law enforcement tasks and would excel at grant management and budget development. Experience with accreditation, the “Neighborhood Watch” program and community policing techniques would be a plus. Applicants must be able to evaluate performance of personnel, provide administrative support to the Chief, coordinate special projects and investigations, and other law enforcement duties as assigned. Requirements include substantial supervision experience in a law enforcement environment, a combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited 4-year college and certification by DCJS as a Law Enforcement Officer. POLICE OFFICER
The Town of Rocky Mount is currently accepting applications for the position of Police Officer. The Town intends to collect applications for the purpose of creating a pool of applicants to be used to fill vacancies over the next six months. Law enforcement certification through the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice is not required, but preferred. Education equivalent to high school graduate required, continued education of college or specialized training through an accredited academy or military police school preferred. Employment includes excellent fringe benefits, including participation in the Virginia Retirement System. All applicants must be 21 years of age prior to appointment.
