Rocky Mount is the center of trade and industry for the entire County of Franklin. Equally important, it is a center of regional trade for those persons that work and reside between Roanoke to the north and Martinsville to the South.
The Town employs a great staff that is eager to help its residents! All of the Town's various departments work together to create a clean, safe and healthy environment in which Town citizens and visitors can live, work and play. The Town offers an affordable tax rate and strives to keep other fees, such as water and sewer usage and garbage collection fees at a minimum. The Town also strives to provide its citizens with a safe and dependable supply of drinking water, and to keep its residents free from harm through an active Police Department that is dedicated to the community-policing concept.

The Town of Rocky Mount offers a picturesque landscape, decorated by our beautiful community parks and churches, our historic Community & Hospitality Center (formerly a train depot), our open-air Farmers' Market at Citizen Square, and the Franklin County Veterans' Memorial Park which is located along the Pigg River in the historic Pigg River Heritage Area. Through projects such as Downtown Revitalization and Claiborne Avenue Parking, the Town has made investments toward improving the future of Rocky Mount, and through projects such as Uptown Revitalization, Celeste Park, and a proposed music venue, the Town continues to look for ways to make Rocky Mount better every day.
It is a sense of community that binds the citizens of Rocky Mount together, and it is through the support and partnership of local agencies such as the Community Partnership for Revitalization, Franklin County Retail Merchants Association, Inc., and the Franklin County Chamber of Commerce, that community facilities and events are offered to citizens and visitors of the Town. Organizations like these, and the many others that exist in the Town, are the heartbeat of the community, and they offer great opportunities for involvement and volunteerism.
