Town of Rocky Mount Issues Veterans' Memorial Walk Request for Proposal

The Town of Rocky Mount is seeking professional engineering and architectural services for the first phase of the Pigg River Heritage Trail. This section will be a ten feet wide concrete boardwalk with a timber bridge connecting Veterans’ Memorial Park to Lynch Park along the Pigg River. The chosen firm must be able to efficiently carry out the project within the guidelines of the Virginia Recreational Trail Program and adhere to all project and grant deadlines. The winning firm will complete and submit a Proposal Description and Environmental Screening Application (PDESA) to The Department of Conservation and Recreation no later than Friday, August 1, 2008, and also prepare construction bid documents. The following criteria will be used in the selection of professional services:

            1)         Previous experience in trail design

            2)         Adequate staffing and expertise to complete the 
                         project within project and grant deadlines

            3)         Familiarity or previous experience with Rocky 
                         Mount

            4)         Cost of services

            5)         Location of firm

The preliminary grant application for the project is available for review upon request. All interested firms must submit six copies of the proposal by 4 p.m. Friday, June 13, 2008 in a sealed format to:
