Planning and Zoning Department
The Planning and Zoning Administrator is responsible for administering the Town's Zoning and Subdivision Ordinances, comprehensive planning, and other matters of the Town Code related to land use issues.
The Planning & Zoning Administrator uses the Town’s Geographical Information System (GIS), a modern system of mapping and managing data related to a variety of uses including land use, utility infrastructure, streets, public safety, and economic development.
The Planner reports to the Community Development Director and is also the staff liaison of the Rocky Mount Planning Commission and Board of Zoning Appeals. The Community Development Department reviews site plans, issues sign permits and zoning permits and oversees proper land use planning.
