Discover Rocky Mount

Rocky Mount is Something Else

We are at the crossroads of The Crooked Road, Virginia's Blue Ridge, and the Smith Mountain Lake Region. We're craftsmen, artists, musicians, farmers, entrepreneurs, and everything in between. We're a great place to pick a tune — or a spot to settle down. We like to think this mixture of so many different things makes us stronger and more beautiful, like a patchwork quilt.

Music

The Harvester Performance Center brings world class musicians to Town, while the Homegrown Music Series celebrates the heritage music that has been passed down for generations.

Outdoors

Rocky Mount is cradled by the Blackwater River to the north, and the Pigg River to the south each with a variety of access points for paddlers to enjoy.

The Grassy Hill Natural Area Preserve is conveniently located at our Town limits and includes a 6.6 mile hiking trail system that brings hikers to an overlook with a view of Rocky Mount and Franklin County.

Celeste Park features walking trails that connect to Downtown Rocky Mount where visitors can eat, drink, and shop at local establishments.

Rocky Mount is part of Virginia's Blue Ridge, America's East Coast Mountain Biking Capital. Nearby Waid Park features over 15 miles of trails for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding.

Franklin County is known as the Land Between the Lakes, with Smith Mountain Lake to the northeast, and Philpott Lake to the Southwest. Rocky Mount is the perfect basecamp for any water excursion.
