Robert was born and raised in Austin, Texas. Robert attended the University of Texas at Austin, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts with Honors in Economics and a Master's in Public Affairs from the LBJ School of Public Affairs. He has lived in Texas, Michigan, Utah, Mexico, and now Virginia.
Robert has been a city manager for over twenty years. He was the City Administrator for the City of West Lake Hills, Texas for twelve and a half years, City Manager of the City of Flatonia, Texas for eight years, and served as an Interim City Manager for Bastrop, Texas. He has been the Town Manager for Rocky Mount since May 4th.
He is a member of the Virginia Local Government Management Association and the International City/County Management Association (ICMA). He has served on various statewide and national committees and task forces with the Texas City Management Association, ICMA, and the Texas Municipal League dealing with topics ranging from ethics to state legislation impacting local governments.
Robert has two children: Justin, 22, and Rose, 19. He enjoys hiking, mountain biking, visiting state and national parks, music, and eating good tacos.
