Public Notice – Expanded Notification System

The Town of Rocky Mount is pleased to announce an expansion of our TextMyGov text messaging service to now include RMALERTS, a notification system designed to keep residents better informed.

Through this service, residents can receive timely updates on town events, traffic notices, emergencies including weather and utilities, and other important information directly to their mobile devices. The system will officially launch on September 1, 2025, and residents may receive a welcome text from the number 91896 introducing the service. You may opt out at any time by replying STOP.

If you do not receive the initial text, you can easily opt in by sending the keyword “RMALERTS” to 91896. You will then be prompted to reply YES to confirm enrollment.

In addition to alerts, residents can also access on-demand information 24/7 by texting keywords to the town’s dedicated TextMyGov number, (540) 590-5025. This feature allows you to quickly look up town information using keywords such as Council, Garbage, Water Bill, and more.
